Christmas Day, 25th December 2013
Pope Francis: Christmas is something more. It is an encounter with the Lord: to allow ourself to encounter the Lord and most important of all, to allow the Lord to encounter us.
Make it yours the joy of loving Jesus in the intimacy of your heart and in each person, sharing this joy with all those that you meet on the road of life.
Happiness is for us a necessity and strength, also physically speaking. A person that has a happy spirit does not easily get tired and is always disposed to do the good.
Jesus will only take possession of our soul if we abandon ourselves to him in joy.
It can be that we are not able to give ourselves much; nevertheless, we can always share the happiness that springs from a heart that is full of God.
Happiness is very contagious, therefore, we shall be happier when we share with the poor.
Authentic sanctity consists in doing God's will with a smile.
That nothing sad or sorrowful penetrates your hearts and more importantly, that you may never forget the joy of the risen Lord.
Suffering once accepted with love, becomes joy.
If we are able to transform our houses in another Nazareth, peace and joy will reign in the world.
Our lives would be empty without the joy of mutual service. How can we love God and the poor if there is no love among us which we practice together in the sharing of daily life?
We should learn to be humble and accept with joy humiliations. It is very easy to be proud and egoistic. We have been created for greater things. Why then should we fall in things that remove the beauty of our heart?
Our life in order to be fruitful should be full of Christ; in order to communicate peace, joy and love, we should have them within us because nobody can give what he does not have.
